Jorge L. Marchand specializes in civil litigation in both the state and federal jurisdiction, including labor and employment law (state and federal courts, mediation, arbitration, National Labor Relations Board), torts, contracts, corporate affairs, Act 75 (Distribution Contracts), sports law, family law, and appellate law (includes the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit in Boston).
Mr. Marchand has vast experience in labor law negotiating collective bargaining agreements and having successfully litigated various cases at the National Labor Relations Board (NLBR). He also serves as an Associate Judge on the Appellate and Arbitration Sports Court of the Olympic Committee of Puerto Rico.
Mr. Marchand was also an Associate at López Lay, Vizcarra & Simonet Law Firm specializing in labor and employment law litigation in state and federal courts, arbitration and the NLRB representing employer and labor organizations. Additionally, he served as a Law Clerk in the Supreme Court of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, working for Associate Justice Francisco Rebollo López doing legal research, preparing drafts of opinions and judgments, and preparing legal memoranda recommending either the granting or denial of discretionary writs.
Mr. Marchand is admitted to act as Notary Public in the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. He has a Law Degree from the University of Barcelona in Spain, which allows him to practice law within the European Union territory.
